Thinking About Thinking About Foreign Policy
Xander offers us a brief and informative clinic on different schools of realism to better understand how we analyze and interpret foreign policy here at ReConsider.
Bad News for Those Feeling Smug About Brexit’s Economic Slump
The conclusion was drawn–Brexit was a terrible economic decision–put in a box, and packed away to be pulled out and shown, without re-examination, at the next cocktail party where we’re trying to impress folks with how worldly we are.
I decided today to pop back into the box and dust it off.
We’re All Gonna Die!
Have you been paying attention?! We’re all gonna die! The world is falling apart. Terrorist attacks have rampaged through the United States, killing innocent civilians. Freedom, the American way itself, is at risk. 2016 has been a year of disaster, and a security failure.
At least, that’s what The Terrorists™ want you to think.
I See You’ve Suddenly Become an Expert in EU and UK Politics!
Congratulations to all the folks on Facebook and Twitter that have spent the past four years quietly learning hordes of information about the European Union and United Kingdom. Your devotion to informing yourself before resolutely expressing your opinion that fully one half or another of the United Kingdom are all idiots is laudable. “ISIL Is Not Islamic.” Twitter and article comment sections exploded with incredulity: how could the President possibly miss the word “Islamic” in “Islamic State?” How could someone be so stupid to not see that?
A Very Considerate Moment on the TPP
The Something to Consider forum has had two powerful discussions on the Trans Pacific Partnership trade deal that President Obama has fast-track approval for. One has focused on the impact on workers/wages, and the other on foreign policy / US-Pacific relations.
Each has been a model of conversation according to the Considerates’ Pledge, but one conversation in particular stood out as user Xsess and other users puzzled out some of the potential misunderstandings behind what’s going on with the TPP.
US Partisanship in Response to Netanyahu’s Speech
Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu recently came to speak to the United States Congress to give his country’s perspective on the ongoing US-Iranian nuclear negotiations.
We explore a bit of the partisanship involved in the responses.
