ReConsider’s mission is to improve how we have conversations about politics so that we can begin to salve the wounds born by society from extreme political division. For the last 5 years, we’ve has produced hundreds of deeply-researched and challenging political podcasts. We’re able to keep doing that due to support by listeners and readers like you, and are almost entirely patron-supported and dependent. Here’s how to support ReConsider:

One-time patronage with acast
Recurring patronage with Patreon!

So far, we’ve done this all for, essentially, free, as ReConsider is our passion project (and all Patreon dollars are currently going to business expenses & marketing efforts, rather than a salary for Erik or Xander). We do it because we know that better political conversations are possible because we’ve had them, and want to help nudge the general conversation in a more constructive direction.

In the future, we may offer premium content if we can get ReConsider to the point where Erik and Xander can go whole hog in on it. Until then, ReConsider is almost entirely supported by our Patrons, a diverse group of exceptionally thoughtful individuals from whom we’ve learned much over the years. We’ve also made podcasts based on a number of our Patron’s suggestions.

If you enjoy the show, have benefited from one of our infographics, or believe that better political conversation is possible, then consider becoming a Patron of ReConsider on Patreon. Our Consider Patron community is an active one, and the dialogue is very much two-way.

And, look, we’ll be straight with you: our video on our Patreon is a bit…err..hokey. We recorded it in December 2016, in Málaga, Spain, on a ReConsider retreat of sorts**. ReConsider was still pretty new at that point, and we were stuck with what we had: an iphone balanced precariously against a bunch of pillows propped up against the stairway. ReConsider has come a long way since then, we just haven’t gotten around to updating that Patreon video. We plan to do it soon.

** Another funny story about Málaga. our internet at the AirBnB went down in the middle of our interview with Michael Mazarr, a researcher at RAND that studies geopolitics. We had to reconnect through a 2g hotspot on one of our very lousy international plans. But it worked! And Mike was kind enough to join us for a second show to talk about his book on the Iraq War. It’s also where we came up with the idea for our first series, episodes, ReConsidering Russia.
